Safety As A
Core Value

The most effective safety protocols for every environment

At Dalkia Energy Solutions, we believe that our employees are our most important resource. Keeping our people safe, day in and day out, is our number one priority.

Safety is woven into Dalkia’s DNA. We’re responsible for the safety of our workers, subcontractors, customers, and community members. Whether we are replacing lighting at a Giant Eagle store, or performing chiller retrocommissioning at the Empire State Building, or performing street light maintenance on the streets of San Antonio, Dalkia strives to implement the most effective safety protocols for every environment. Safety is non-negotiable.

Dalkia-Six-Rules-of-Safety-Graphic

Rule 1: Safe, efficient, and responsible driving according to Dalkia vehicle policies and the jurisdiction of travel; also, hands-free technology for calls, no texting or emailing while driving.

Rule 2: Work in confined and hazardous spaces is only done by trained, qualified individuals; all work will comply with site requirements.

Rule 3: Required use of appropriate PPE for the environment being worked in.

Rule 4: Lockout Tagout (LOTO) and arc-flash prevention based on customer site requirements or Dalkia program requirements (whichever is more appropriate); certificates must be up to date.

Rule 5: Safe Lifting means protecting yourself from musculoskeletal injuries by using proper lifting techniques and mechanical assistance whenever appropriate. Plan the lift, know your limits, and follow site-specific lifting procedures. Never stand or work beneath a suspended load.

Rule 6: Site-specific guidelines for working at heights, as well as ensuring all safety requirements for ladders, lifts and fall protection are followed. Additionally, all Dalkia subcontractors are required to review and sign the Subcontractor Safety Statement, which echoes these six golden rules thereby extending Dalkia’s safety culture to our partners.

Back to Basics

Work Safe. Go Home Safe.

Dalkia, in partnership with the safety experts at Krause Bell Group, has implemented a Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) Governance Committee, to proactively strengthen Dalkia’s culture of SIF prevention. The mission of the Committee is to foster open communication, shared learning, and leadership engagement to ensure that every employee is empowered to have the knowledge, resources, and support needed to perform work safely while promoting accountability and transparency across all levers of the organization.

Dalkia also implements Meaningful Safety Conversations across our teams. Meaningful Safety Conversations are purposeful, two way discussions focused on identifying risks, reinforcing safe behaviors, and preventing incidents before they happen. We do this to build trust and safety culture within our teams, teach employees at all levels of the organization how to identify hazards early, catch near misses, and encourage a shared responsibility for safety, with the goal of reducing incidents in alignment with Goal Zero Harm.
