Why CHP

According to the EPA, nearly two-thirds of energy used to generate conventional electricity is wasted in the form of heat discharged to the atmosphere. What’s more, additional energy is wasted during the distribution of electricity to end-users.

Cogeneration is a More Efficient, Less Expensive and More Earth-Conscious Way to Generate Heat and Power.

The process is often referred to as combined heat and power, or CHP, because most cogeneration systems are used to supply electricity and heat. This term might be limiting because it does so much more, as the heat energy from the electricity production can also be used for absorption cooling and other purposes.

Our CHP systems provide operational efficiency of 85%, using nearly all natural gas input to produce heat and electricity, versus the low efficiency of traditional central power plants, which are only 30% efficient on average. Simply put, these central power plants waste the other 55% in discharged heat and electrical losses along the distribution. Initially favored by petroleum refining, paper and chemical plants, CHP is now used in commercial buildings across all business sectors.
