Bob Kirby

Chief Executive Officer

Bob Kirby is the Chief Executive Officer of Dalkia U.S., where he leads with a steadfast
focus on safety, operational excellence, and long-term customer partnerships. Known for his
hands-on leadership style and passion for people, Bob is committed to building a company
culture that empowers employees to grow while delivering measurable value to clients. Under
his guidance, Dalkia U.S. has expanded its service offerings, restructured for growth, and
strengthened its safety culture—all anchored by a vision of smarter, more sustainable facilities.

Bob’s journey to leadership began with a strong technical foundation. Born abroad and
raised in a military family, he moved frequently before settling in Wisconsin, where he began his
career in manufacturing. He completed both mechanical and electrical maintenance
apprenticeships, sparking his interest in how systems work together to support complex
operations. He later studied industrial engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Fox Valley,
deepening his expertise in mechanical systems, plant operations, and process improvement.
Early roles in plant engineering allowed him to tackle challenges in equipment reliability,
ergonomics, and facility safety—developing the problem-solving mindset that has guided his
career ever since.

As he advanced to Plant Engineering Manager, Bob oversaw full facility operations,
manufacturing engineering, maintenance, and utilities, consistently driving cost savings and
operational efficiencies. His ability to connect mechanical systems with business performance
shaped his approach in future executive roles, including positions as Executive Vice President
and Regional Vice President with responsibilities spanning both business development and
operations. Beyond corporate leadership, Bob has also embraced entrepreneurship, helping to
build four companies from the ground up—including Groom Energy, which was later acquired by
Dalkia in 2016. His experience across both startups and large organizations reinforces his belief
in the importance of mechanical infrastructure and sustainable building systems as drivers of
long-term energy performance.

What sets Bob apart is not only his technical expertise, but his belief in the power of culture.
He is deeply proud of the difference his work makes—helping clients reduce costs and carbon
footprints, while also creating workplaces where people feel valued and supported. His
leadership philosophy centers on staying grounded, putting people first, and solving real
problems with practical solutions that stand the test of time.

Today, Bob lives in Portland, Maine, where he enjoys life as a devoted father and lifelong
gearhead. Outside of work, he can often be found playing guitar, listening to music, or working
on just about anything with an engine—whether it’s a car, a boat, an excavator, or a tractor.
Looking ahead, Bob envisions Dalkia U.S. continuing to grow in its core markets while
expanding into new regions and solutions. His ultimate goal is to be remembered as a leader
who built strong teams, delivered lasting results, and brought a genuine love of making things
work—both in business and in life.
